MyWaggyTails Chinnor

Home boarding, day care, dog walking and pet home care across Chinnor and the Chilterns.

MyWaggyTails Chinnor is a local authority licensed, five-star rated, fully insured pet-care business, run by Mitch and her family from their own home. We offer proper home-from-home care: dog sleepovers, day care, home visits and dog walking, for owners who want their dog treated like one of the family rather than a booking in a kennel.

Dogs stay with us as members of the family. Availability is deliberately limited, so every dog gets a warm welcome and a genuinely happy stay, with photo and video updates whenever we can.

Licensed, insured and trained

MyWaggyTails Chinnor is licensed by our local authority, South Oxfordshire District Council, to provide dog boarding and day care. Our licence number is 20174. Being licensed for boarding and day care is a legal requirement, and it's a criminal offence to offer these services without one.

We hold £5m public liability insurance and a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate. We're trained in canine first aid and hold Ofqual-recognised certificates in dog boarding and day care. You're welcome to ask to see any of these documents at any time.

What your dog needs for boarding and day care

To keep every dog safe and happy, and in line with our licensing conditions, dogs staying with us need to be:

  • Medically and behaviourally suitable, and able to get along with our own dogs
  • Up to date with vaccinations (Leptospirosis, Adenovirus, Parvovirus and Canine Distemper, usually shown as DPH and L2/L4 on the certificate)
  • Covered by a current kennel cough vaccination (shown as KC), and up to date with vet-issued flea, tick and worming treatment
  • Well socialised with other dogs and people
  • Fully house trained
  • Microchipped, with the chip registered to your current address
  • Wearing an ID tag on their collar or harness
  • Good with recall, with an on-lead trial before any off-lead freedom

We'll also ask for full, current medical and behavioural information about your dog, and there's a meet and greet plus a trial stay before any booking is confirmed, so both your dog and ours are comfortable.

A couple of honest house rules: we can't accept dogs in season, and we can't accept any dog showing aggression to people or other dogs. It's about keeping every animal in our care safe.

Home boarding and day care in Chinnor

Day care and home boarding are what most Chinnor owners come to us for, and both run from our own licensed family home. Structured walks, garden time, proper naps and a genuine home-from-home, with photos through the day, because a dog votes with its paws.

We're licensed by South Oxfordshire District Council and keep numbers deliberately small, so every dog gets real attention rather than a share of a crowd. That also means school holidays and Christmas fill up first: the earlier you ask, the better.

Dog walking in Chinnor

If you need dog walking in Chinnor, Princes Risborough, Thame or the surrounding villages, we're happy to help where we have availability. We offer one-hour group walks in local beauty spots and parks, with a mix of training, play and sensory experiences. Group walks help with socialisation, good behaviour and exercise all at once, and our insured vehicle carries a pet first aid kit, water, bowls and towels for wet days.

Your dog can be walked on or off lead, subject to your consent, the environment, their recall and the group. Every dog wears a MyWaggyTails ID tag alongside their own, and we only accept microchipped dogs. For escapologists or dogs with poor recall, flagged in advance, we have GPS tracking collars as backup. We follow the professional dog walking best practice set out by the RSPCA and Dogs Trust.

Got a puppy too young for group walks, or a poorly, post-operative or senior dog? We offer visits and shorter, gentler walks tailored to them, including toilet breaks, feeding, brain games and plenty of TLC. And for dogs who think two's a crowd, we do solo walks.

For dogs with stamina, our adventure hikes are walks with a difference. Off-lead adventures run around 3 to 3.5 hours in some of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire's best dog-friendly spots, so your dog comes home happily worn out. Leashed adventures are a low-impact, high-stimulation option for older or movement-restricted dogs, with pick-up and drop-off included.

Prefer care in your own home?

For cats, small pets, puppies too young for walks, and dogs who are happiest where they are, we also offer pop-in home visits and live-in pet sitting. Quieter corners of what we do, delivered with the same care.

Meet Mitch

Hello, and welcome to MyWaggyTails Chinnor.

Before dogs, I spent years in advertising and film in London, juggling a long commute, a young family and a husband who often worked away. I wanted a life with more flexibility and, with the Oxfordshire countryside on my doorstep and dogs of my own, pet care came up in a family brainstorm and struck a chord. I'd always helped friends and family with their dogs, so I launched MyWaggyTails Chinnor.

I quickly learned it's far more than adding a few extra paws to your walks. You're looking after someone's pride and joy, and doing it safely and properly means licensing, compliance, logistics and a great deal of care. It grew faster than I ever expected, to the point I had to beg my brother to stop promoting us.

Every dog that stays becomes part of home life, with the whole family involved. Structured walks, proper naps and a genuine home-from-home. I send owners photos through the day, because you can't fake those moments: a dog votes with its paws. And reliability matters, so the walks go on whatever the weather.

One honest word: if the thought of extra dog hair, muddy paws and the odd accident in your home makes you wince, home boarding probably isn't for you. If it makes you smile, we'll get along just fine.

A big thank you to my family, who make MyWaggyTails what it is: my husband Phil, son Charlie, mum Pamela, and Sue, our girl Friday (and Thursday, and Wednesday). Our customers, two-legged and four, have made these years an absolute joy.
